Essential Functions

The Epidemiologist will assist with administrative efforts and plan, design, implement, evaluate, and manage health-related surveillance systems, epidemiologic studies, and field investigations.

The Epidemiologist for Lab Data Operations will support monitoring and evaluation activities of data from electronic Laboratory reports of communicable diseases. This position will develop and review reports and protocols to assess communicable disease data from laboratories. Assessments include identifying reporting issues, monitoring data quality, and summarizing disease-related trends. The position requires collaborative work with staff in laboratory technology, epidemiology and data, and information systems to maintain data sources and establish new data supports as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in epidemiology or its equivalent and three years of experience assisting in the design, conduct, and evaluation of epidemiologic studies and field investigations.

A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in epidemiology or its equivalent -AND- one-year work experience as an epidemiologist.

Licensing and Certifications
A valid Class C California Driver’s License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Desired Skills
Strong programming capabilities in R and/or SAS, data management experience, data quality experience, ability to communicate effectively in a remote work environment.
Additional Information

Levels of experience needed in R/SAS: - Intermediate to advanced proficiency.

Levels of experience needed in data management: - 2-3 years experience with data management preferred.

Levels of experience needed in data quality: - 2-3 years experience with monitoring, identifying, and/or addressing data quality preferred.
