Essential Functions
The Health Educator will assist with administrative efforts by planning, implementing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating Public Health education programs within LA County. The Health Educator (HE) will support the County Public Health Councils (PHC) Program, an innovative approach aimed at preventing COVID-19 and supporting vaccination and recovery efforts at workplaces in key at-risk sectors. The Health Educator will provide health education to business owners and stakeholders; provide programmatic support to County PHC Program grant managers; and collaborate with contracted organizations providing education and outreach to contracted organizations. This position will report to the PHC Program Manager or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
California Law requires a master’s degree from a program of study accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health with specialization in public health education, community health education, or equivalent.
Licensing and Certifications
A valid Class C Driver’s License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of doing administrative efforts and being responsible for planning, implementing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating Public Health education programs. Managing Excel databases, creating health education materials, developing surveys, researching and compiling support resources available through government and private agencies; and strong organization, oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds, and stand for several hours at a time.
Work Environment
This position is remote and may require travel to worksites around LA County once or twice a month. This position would also be required to attend occasional in-person staff meetings.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Bi-lingual in English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Tagalog or Thai is highly desired.
Work Shift
M-F 8 am-4:30pm, start and end times negotiable
